Swachh Bharat Summer Internship Programme 2018

Swachh Bharat Summer Internship Programme 2018 by MHRD 2018 for rural sanitation and hygiene, a 100 hour duration Program, carried by GDC Reasi under the leadership of Principal Dr S P Sarswat and guidance of Nodal Officer Dr Anshu Gupta, Assistant Professor, Department of EVS, GDC Reasi. Two villages were adopted for SBSI programme in Block Reasi, Gran Brotrian and Mari A (Slum area). The programme started in the last week of May and culminated on 31st of July 2018. Seven students, Sanjay Singh, Surinder Singh, Sangeet kumar, Vishali Devi, Kusam Devi, Vishal Sharma and Swathi Bizal, were registered as SBS Interns and a number of activities related to Information Education Communication (IEC) that included awareness campaigns, door to door meetings, rallies, nukkad natak, wall paintings related to messages of Swachta, community level meetings were carried out; Solid Waste Management, cleanliness drives, segregation of waste, making compost pits and awareness related to construction of toilets and making the areas ODF were carried out by the SBSI team under the guidance of Nodal Officer Dr Anshu Gupta. Besides these activities some other activities like awareness on Female health and hygiene both at community level as well as for school girls at Govt. School Bidda was carried out. For children of the selected villages movie screenings related to hygiene and cleanliness was done, also the children were made aware and motivated by the team to follow hygiene practices in daily life. One day workshop on “Best out of Waste” was also carried out in the selected villages..

one day Zoological Trip by the Department of Zoology on 26.03.2018

One day zoological trip was conducted by the Department of zoology on 26.03.2018 in which students of Sem.VI were taken to CCB farm, Poultry farm (Belicharana), Sericulture farm (Miran Sahib) and Manda Zoo. Our students interacted with Dr.Ranjeet Katoch who demonsrated about the different methodsof cattle breeding to them and shown different apparatus used and scope about the cattle farming.Then after this our students interacted with Dr. Iqbaal who was related to poultry farming. He gave them the description of nutritional value of feed of poutry and also the bussiness value of same to them. After this our students went to Central Sericulture farm Miran Sahib where they were again warm welcomed by the Scientist Ajay Sharma. Their faculty shown museum of Silk material to our students and them gave a good lecture over sericulture in conference hall. Dr. Ajay Sharma took them to field visit and describe about the scope of sericulture. After all these interesting lectures and visits our students finally visit to Manda zoo and interacted with beautiful creatures of wild life and feel refreshed.

One Day Botanical Trip by the Department of Botany on 20.03.2018

The Botany semester 6th students of the college were taken by Dr Lakhvinder Singh (H.O.D. Botany)for one day botanical trip to the Botanical Garden of the Department of Botany, university of Jammu. Prof. Veenu Koul and Dr Harish Dutt of the Department of Botany, University of Jammu interacted with the students. Dr. Harish had a more than 2 hour long talk with the students while showing them the diverse germplasm planted in the Garden. He discussed the taxonomy, Ecology and Ecomonic importance of various gymnosperms and angiosperms with the students. Ph.D.Research Scholars of the department also discussed various queries raised by our students and shared their experiences. Lateron, the students had a round inside the department and met with Prof Namrata Sharma (HOD) in her chamber, who very warm heartedly welcomed them and encouraged them to pursue higher studies and assured all possible help in their future endeavors.

HEALTH & HYGIENE CAMP at Govt. M/S Talwara on 28 th of Sept. 2017

A one day awareness camp was conducted on 28th of Sept. 2017 on "Health and Hygiene" at Govt M/S Talwara Migrant Camp, Reasi by the faculty and students of Gen Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College, Reasi. The programme was successfully conducted under the guidance and supervision of Worthy Principal Dr Hemla Aggarwal, Dr Rakesh Bharti, Prof Ajay Bhagat and ShRakeshKumar(PTI) to promote health and hygiene and raise awareness about good hygiene habits such as washing hands, trimming nails, using a toilet for defecation and adopting safe drinking water practices. Students of the migrant camp are encouraged to adopt simple habits that can prevent illness for their proper growth and development. This programme covered school, mothers and various touch points in the locality to make people aware and also to create champions within the school and local community as agents of change.

Counselling session was conducted on Resolving Career Confusion on 22.02.2018

A career counselling session was conducted on Resolving Career Confusion by the convener of the career counseling cell DrRakeshBharti 22/02/2018. He focused that students should know and understand themselves and the world of work in order to make career, educational, and life decisions. He narrated various motivational stories to help the students in resolving career conflict. He helped the students to identify the factors influencing their career development, and asked them to assess their interests, abilities, attitudes and resources.Thesession was formally inaugurated by the Worthy Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) S.P. Sarswat. In his inaugural address Prof. S P Sarswat presented the key note address covering the objectives and structure of the workshop.

CAREER IN CIVIL SERVICES today on 09-03-2018

A career counselling workshop was organised on CAREER IN CIVIL SERVICES today on 09/03/2018. Sh Ajay Raina(KAS), District Accounts Officcer, Reasi was the resource person. He deliberated upon the various pre- requisites of civil services examination. He discussed scheme of question papers and pattern of examination. Worthy Principal Prof S P Sarswat presented momento to the resource person and DrRakeshBharti, Convener Counselling Cell presented vote of thanks.

At last a question answer session was also conducted wherein students raised various queries related to the career in Hospitality and Tourism. Vote of thanks presented by Asst Prof. Lakhvinder Singh.

A career counselling session on 'Career in Indian Army' was conducted in Govt Gen Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College Reasi by the expert team of Army Officers under OP Sadbhavana in collaboration with Career Counselling Cell of the college on 13.03.2018. Worthy Principal Prof S P Sarswat appreciated the efforts of the Indian Army for conducting this session in the college in his welcome address. Ranjeet under PMVKY scheme in collaboration with Career Counseling Cell of the College on March 14, 2018 for the students of different semesters in the college.The idea behind the session is to explore possibility in Hospitality and Tourism industry as career. Exposure Visit 2018, Flagged off on April 02, 2018

On the initiative of Minister of Higher Education, Jenab Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari and Principal Secretary to Government, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon under PMSSS, Govt General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College Reasi conducted an exposure of students to Amritsar, Delhi and Agra with an objective to provide an opportunity to the visiting students to see the healthy practices of the prominent institutions outside the state in academic and other fields. The Principal of the college Prof.(Dr) S P Sarswat flagged off the visit on April 02, 2018. Dr Rakesh Bharti and Dr Jagmeet Kaur coordinated the visit along with Prof Mohd Ashraf and Dr Lakhvinder Singh.

World Environment Day celebrated at General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College Reasi.

World Environment Day was celebrated at GZSM Degree College with great enthusiasm on 5th of June 2018. The theme for this year's Environment Day celebration was “Beat the Plastic Pollution”. The event was organized by Dr Anshu Gupta, Assistant Professor in EVS and was honoured by the worthy Principal, Dr. S.P. Sarswat. Among other staff members present were Prof. Ajay Kumar Bhagat and Prof. Dheeraj Bhardwaj. The event began with the keynote address by Dr Anshu Gupta, she introduced the theme of the event, emphasised on our dependency on plastic and the menace of plastic pollution due to our improper way of handling and disposing it. She elaborated the ill effects of plastics in today's world on environment, humans and wildlife. After that a Nukkad Natak on the theme “Lets Beat the Plastic Pollution” was performed by the students of the college which was followed by a group song in which students displayed various placards for awareness related to the theme. A total of 22 students who participated included Joginder, Surinder, Vishali, Shivani, Sangeet Tanav, Leakh Raj, Akroor, Hafiza, Jyoti, Arun, Akrosh, Anam and others. In the end, the worthy Principal acknowledged the efforts of the students and the staff and he also stressed on the fact plastic pollution is a sore on earth's health and we need to manage the Plastic waste properly and switch to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. He stressed upon reducing the use of single use plastic and urged the students to spread this awareness wherever they go. The event was concluded by Dr Anshu Gupta who thanked the worthy principal, staff and students for making the event successful.



Govt. Gen. Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College, Reasi, in collaboration with Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Institute, Jammu, organised ten days workshop sponsored by Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Govt. of India w.e.f. 26th October to 6th November 2017 on Entrepreneurship Development Programme for promoting entrepreneurial skills among students belonging to Schedule Caste category. The workshop was inaugurated formally by the then Principal Dr. Hemla Aggrawal where-in she apprised the students regarding present day challenges in job seeking and their solutions. Twenty five (25) students participated and ten (10) lectures were delivered by various resources persons from their own area of expertise with impetus on diverting students’ mind to become job givers rather than becoming job seekers. Dr. S. P. Sarswat, Principal of the College, while speaking in the valedictory function, highlighted the objective of conducting such workshops for creating economically self-reliant groups to serve the society in true spirit and encouraged students for self employment. In the end, certificates of participation were distributed among students. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Preeti Salathia, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce and Mr. Vinnu Koul from Department of MSME.



Various army officials organised carrer counselling programme for the college students on 6th April 2017 specifically highlighting the carrer opportuntes in the defence sector including eligblity criteria, various level of evaluation as well as achievements of the army in various social sectors also including the rehabilitation of the people who have suffered from various calamaties,medical aid to the needy people, educational help to schools in remote areas as well as organised educational tours for the students of remote areas. The outcome of the programme was very fruitful as students were highly motivated to serve the nation by moving towards the defence sector.
In addition to the above mention programme the institution also contributed a lot in various others programme like a programme on digital learning, digital transaction, proper use of social media etc.



Rajesh kumar bhagat,Pooja Sharma and Aditi Kaluria were the participants representing the college in debate competition which was held at conference hall,DC Office Reasi on 30th March 2017.Rajesh kumar Bhagat won the first prize of Rs.5000/- and Aditi Kaluria got Rs.1500/- as fourth prize in the said event.



38 students of the college participated in run for fun marathon organised by District Police Reasi on 29 March 2017.the event started at 7 a.m sharp from Govt.High School Mari to Sports Stadium Reasi via Grah Morh and Geeta nagar.sahil thakur of our college won the first prize of Rs.5000/- .Mohinder Singh of our college bagged third prize of Rs.2000/-. Two consolation prizes of Rs.1000/- were bagged by Vijender Kumar and Nasreen Bibi.



The 60 girl students of the college participated in the workshop organised by the NHPC Jyotipuram on 27th and 28th march 2017 for women to promote sports and art as profession for self employment organised by NHPC,Jyotipuram,Reasi in the premises of GDC Reasi .National Level Artist remained as resource person for the painting workshop who taught students to create an artistic world of their own with different colours.



The 12 students of the college participated in the volley ball tournament organised by the IRP 1st BN, Reasi.The ist match was held on 23rd march 2017 and our team remained as runner up.



Birthday of general zorawar singh was celebrated in the college premises 20th march 2017 to honour the bravery and valour of the son of soil.The sixth generation of general zorawar singh’s clan celebrated the birthday of general zorawar singh and also highlighted the life history and achievements of the brave soldier of soil. Mr.Ajay Nanda,MOS,J&K Government,Mr.Ravinder Kumar,IAS,DC Reasi,Dr.Hemla Aggarwal,Principal of the college,staff and students of the college witnessed the occasion.The programme concluded with the exhibitation of cultural and traditional items.



The 40 students from GDC Reasi participated in the run for fun marathon organised by J&K Police at Gulshan ground Jammu on 19th march 2017.The event started at 5 a.m sharp from Gulshan Ground to Sidhra by pass under 42 km;Gulshan Ground to ASCOMS under 21 km .Participation certificates were given to the students.



An awareness programme on "how to make Reasi district open defecation free" under swach bharat abhiyaan was organised in the college premises on 11 march 2017 in collaboration with district administration in which Mr.Ravinder Kumar,IAS,District Commissioneer Reasi was the chief guest Dr.Hemla Aggarwal,Principal of the college,Mr.Babu Ram,ADC Reasi,Mr.rajinder Singh,District information officer,Mr.Raj Kumar producer and director delhi dordarshan,Mr.S Dharmraja from feedback foundation,India and other dignitaries were present.
Under this programme the various initiatives and policies which are made in making the availability of toilets for those families where they have not yet been constructed were also highlighted to make the youth aware about the schemes and steps taken by the government as well as district administration regarding "how to make Reasi district open defecation free".



The students of the college participated in the Red Cross Mela on 4th and 5th march 2017 held at Gulshan ground Jammu. Two items were presented .i.e. A skit on various social evils and a Dance performance exhibiting the theme of child labour



A seven day workshop commence from 6th of feb 2017 on carrer counselling in collobration with Department of life learning,university of jammu was organised in the premises of the college.The resource person for the 1st session on 06 Feb 2017 was Sh.Kulraj Singh,KAS,District Welfare Officer Reasi.He focussed on various skill and relation of the same with carrer building.Both the skills and carrer are two sides of the same coins .i.e. if someone is skillfull the carrer will automatically be decided.
The 2nd session of the same day was chaired by Prof.Karan Singh who adreesed the student in a motivational manner to join belt forces and prepare for CDS exam now available for both boys and girls.He also guided the students to tackle the interview for the same.
Dr.Prem Singh was the resource person on 07 feb 2017 who deliberated on the scope of opting political science as a subject at competitive level and named various books which will help the students to clear the basic difficulties.
The resource person for the third day of the workshop on 08 Feb 2017 was Mr.Rajinder Singh,District Information Officer,Reasi.He Counselled the students regarding IAS,KAS and other state level Competitive exam.
The resource person for the fourth day of the workshop 09 Feb 2017 was prof.Rubina Yasmeen who focussed on the teacher education, the eligibility criteria required for becoming a teacher in difeerent sector like government,private,army schools etc.She also stressed upon various competitive exams like CTET,NET,TET etc.and slection procedure for becoming a teacher.
The resource person for the fifth day of the workshop 11 Feb 2017 was Prof.Tania Akhtar.She delivered the lecture on communication skills which are basic to express, to get our ideas across and get connected with the person to whom we are connected. She also enlighten the students about using correct grammar, proper use of speech and enhancement of the vocabulary.
Prof .Surinder Singh was the resource person for the sixth day of the workshop on 13 Feb 2017.He focussed on the computer application as carrer building subject in information technology sectors which is dired need of digital india.He also stressed upon prepration of various exams like CAT,MAT etc.
The resource person for the seventh day 14 Feb 2017 was Mr.Ravinder Kumar,IAS,District Develovment Commissioneer Reasi.He motivated the students for always thinking of highest goal and try to reach towards it with best efforts where mental genius and hard work were considered as the key for success.He concluded his lecture by giving a “Success Mantra” to students .i.e.

The students of GDC Reasi participated in one day awareness programme among the youth of the district about the different self employment/skill development schemes and other welfare schemes of the departments taking part in the employment fair.



Students of GDC Reasi participated in the cultural event to honour the republic day celebrations.The Theme of the event was “Child Labour” which was exhibited through the hearttouching song “abhi mujh me kahi baaki thodi se hai zindagi”.The dance was appreciated and applauded by the District Commissioner Reasi and other dignitaries present on the occasion.



The national voters day was celebrated in the college premises on 25th jan, 2017 to register newly eligible youth 18 + in the electoral role and also promote electoral participation. In order to promote awareness and infusion of democratic values, the college had organised debate competition and poster making competition on voters day.
Salma, Dikhsha Kaluria, Aditi Kaluria, shehnawaz jaral, reyaz shan, charan singh and sapna attri were the participants in debate and aired their thoughts very well.
Roshi devi, Jyoti Devi, Ishaq Shan, Gagan Sharma, Pooja Sharma, Meenakshi Kumari, Rajesh, Diksha, Amarjyoti,Nishtha and Shahnawaz were the participants in poster making competition. All the students exhibited the theme very well and helped the others also to understand the value of vote and contribution in govt. formation as a responsible youth of the country.



A series of activities were organised in order to observe celebration of science and technology activities sponsored by J&K Science Technology and innovative council, department of science and technology J&K in GDC Reasi.
A seminar entitled “dwindling sex ratio in J&K state ”was organised in the multipurpose hall of the college on 19th Jan,2017. Aditi kaluria,pooja Sharma,salma,ishaq shan,diksha kaluria and rajesh kumar bhagat were the participants in the seminar and aired their thoughts exceptionally well. The first,second,third prize were bagged by Salma,Pooja Sharma and Aditi Kaluria respectively.
A poster making competition under the themes that is dwindling sex ratio in J&k state,wild life and Aids awareness was organised in the second session on 19th january 2017.Almost fourteen participants namely Shah Nawaz Hussain,Salma Bibi,Rayaz Ahmed,Pritish Naag,Pooja Sharma,Rajesh Singh,Diksha Kaluria,Prabha Kiran,Nishtha Abrol,AmarJyoti Dogra,Roshi Devi,Jyoti Devi,Deep Singh and Ishaq Shaan participated in seven groups and exhibited their talent according to the various themes. The first,second,third prize were bagged by Pooja Sharma,Roshi Devi,Amar Jyoti dogra respectively. The event was adjudged by Dr.Prem Singh,Prof.Rubina Yasmeen and Prof.Suman Bala.
In a series of events a quiz competition was organised in GDC Reasi on 23 jan 2017 in which six teams comprised of three participants each participated,performed exceptionally and scored well.There were five round in the competition regarding general studies,general science,current affairs,audio visual round and subjective round related to science and technology.The first prize was awarded to team A,the second prize was bagged by team E and third prize was conferred upon team D.The entire event was presided by Dr.Hemla Aggarwal,principal,GDC Reasi along with other faculty members.
A lecture on aids awareness was organised in the college premises on 15 feb 2017 as a part of science ans technology activities.Ms.Ritu Sawhney,Adoloscent friendly health counsellor,District Hospital Reasi and Mr.Gopal Singh from integrated counselling and testing center,District Hospital Reasi were invited as resource person to aware the students of the college about this vulnerable disease AIDS.



A symposium on cultural heritage and communal harmony was organised in GDC Reasi, Rajesh Kumar, Pooja Sharma and Salma were the participants. They stressed upon the theme very well and really appreciated by the audience.
A poster making competition was organised in the premises of the college under the various themes: like cultural unity, conservation day, role of women in nation building.
Roshi devi, Gagan Sharma, Rajesh singh, diksha, shahanawaz, and Amar jyoti were the participants and exhibited their talent exceptionally well.

Distict adminstrartion and Govt degree college Reasi organised international youth day In collaboration with J&K Aids prevention and control society and Himayat on 12 august 2016.Under this programme the contribution of the youths in various sectors were highlighted in order to motivate the students to contribute in a positive sense for the welfare of the nation. Mr.Ravinder Kumar, IAS,DC Reasi,was the chief guest of the day. Officials from J&K Aids prevention and control society and himayat were present on the occasion. Various schools were also invited to the college and students participants from all invited educational institutions were given token of love.



A symposium was organised by GDC Reasi on 11-08-2016 on the topic “freedom fighters of J&K”. The speakers among students were Hafiza, Manvi Kundal, Arun Kumar, Eshan and Lekhraj. The students who bagged first, second and third positions were Arun, Hafiza and Lekhraj respectively. The judges on the occasion were Amandeep, deptt of history; Wahid ud din kar, deptt of psychology and Mohd Arif, Deptt of Urdu.



Patriotic song competition was organised by GDC Reasi on 10 august 2016 in view of the upcoming Independence Day celebration in which eight students from different streams of college participated and honoured the nation. The students who participated are: Nazim Ali, Mohd. Arshad, Mamta Devi, Kuldeep, Rakesh, Jamila, Ajay and Gopal Krishan. The judges on the occasion were Dr Prem Singh, Dr Satish Kumar, Preety Rachna. The students who bagged first, second and third positions were Kuldeep, Jamila and Ajay respectively.


Legal awareness camp Anti Ragging laws and rights of children and different social security schemes and different social welfare schemes

Legal awareness camp was organised in the premises of college on 29-07-2016 on “Anti Ragging laws and rights of children and different social security schemes and different social welfare schemes” under state plan of action 2016-17 issued by SLSA in collaboration with tehsil legal service authority, Chief Judicial Magistrate Reasi.The chief guest on the occasion was Mr.Kamlesh Pandit,Chief Judicial Magistrate Reasi and Dr.Hemla Aggarwal,principal GDC Reasi was the guest of honour. Among the resource person were assistant labour commissioner reasi,District Social welfare officer reasi,Block development office reasi and retailer lawyers.Ms. Aarti,Assistant labour commissioner,Reasi hioghlighted the prone areas where child labour is in full practice particularly in the hotel region of katra town. District Social welfare officer,Reasi Stressed upon various schemes which are beneficial for the undergraduate and post graduate students.The chief guest on the occasion highlighted the various anti ragging laws their rights and cited various examples showing the consiquences of the ragging activities and how this can prove to a danger for the adolescent groups.In the concluding session various queries were received by the resource person from students on various related issues.


Teacher's Day Celebration

Teacher's day was celebrated with great zeal and fervour on 5th of September, 2016, in the premises of GDC Reasi at 11:00 a.m. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr Hemla Aggarwal, Principal, GDC Reasi. The programme started with lighting of lamp followed by saraswati vandana. Guests were formally welcomed by Miss Rubina, HOD, Education. Nine students spoke on various themes related to the this day. Among the speakers were Manvi, Isha, Jameela, Shabana, Mamta, Rakesh, Pooja, Lekhraj and Arun of semester I, III and Vth. A number of cultural items were also presented by the students. Cleanliness drive started in the college under the banner of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, which will conclude on 10th of September 2016. The chief guest on the occasion said "cleanliness drives should be the regular feature of any educational institution and awareness programmes should also be organised in localities to increase the standards of hygiene amongst the common public."
The committees of Students were framed to continue the process throughout the session. The programme ended with the formal vote of thanks.


Veledictory function of the six days long workshop Training programme

A Veledictory  function  of the  six  days long  workshop Training programme on Front desk management and services  organised by Food Craft Institute , Deptt. of Tourism  , J&K Govt.  was held in the multipurpose hall of  the Govt. Degree College , Reasi. Principal of the College  Prof. Dr. Hemla  Aggarwal  was the chief guest whereas  Mr. Jyoti  Bhatti ( Principal of the Food Craft Institute) was  the guest of honour . The programme started with the lightining of the traditional lamp followed by Saraswati Bandana.
During the workshop almost   60 students from different  streams participated . The expertise from Food craft institute awared the students about various  activities regarding front desk services . The students were also  guided about  short term courses and other skill development programmes in the field of Food Craft so that after completing  their studies they can choose their carrer  in this  interesting area.
During  the programme Principal  of  the College Prof. Hemla Aggarwal  suggested the students to  utilise  the maximum what they have learned   during  the workshop . She blessed  all the students in their coming life period  and motivated them to struggle  hard in their life .
Principal of the Food Craft Institute Mr. Jyoti Bhatti also encouraged  the students  to  opt  their carrer in this field of  food  craft and promised to arrange more programmes in the College for the bright  future of the students.
In the end certificates were  also distributed among the participants . Some of the participants also shared their views  and memories during the workshop.

A six days workshop on “Communication Skills, Personality Development and Gender Sensitization” concluded today on 28-01-2016 in the premises of Govt. General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College, Reasi. The workshop was organized by GOVT. GENERAL ZORAWAR SINGH MEMORIAL DEGREE COLLEGE, REASI. in collaboration with department of Life Long Learning Jammu University. Three hundred students benefitted out of the workshop of whose the resource persons were Mr. Moses Samuel, Project Manager, UNICEF, Prof. Tania Akhter, HOD English, Ms. Reva Rani and Ms. Sakhsi Sharma from Department of English of the same institution.

The Chief Guest in the valedictory function was Dr. Hemla Aggrawal, Principal, GGZSMDC, Reasi. Who in her address said that such kind of classes will enhance the quality of the students and draw out their best. Through These classes students will definitely recognize the inner potential and groom up .During the workshop the students gained self confidence to face interviews and participated in group discussion which will obviously brighten the future job prospectus of the students

The programme ended with the vote of thanks presented by Prof. Tania Akhter.

World Aids day

The Red Ribbon club and NSS unit of The Govt. GZSM, Degree College, Reasi in collaboration withJ&K AIDS Control and Prevention Society commemorated World Aids Day by holding various programes. A poster making competition on the theme of the day was organized followed by a keynote address by invited guest Dr Minali from Chief Medical Office, Reasi. The program was started with the lightening of traditional lamp followed by Saraswati Vandana. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr Hemla Aggarwal, Principal of the college. Prof Rajesh Sharma HOD Maths started the program with his speech on how to control the spread of the disease. Among the jury members of Poster Making were Dr Rajesh Sharma, HOD Maths, Prof. Rubeena, HOD Education and Prof Tania Akhtar, HOD English. A total of twenty students participated in the competition and expressed their views in the posters.

A skit was also performed by the students of the college to aware the students about the prevention and control of the disease.

The chief guest expressed her views on the importanc of the day and appreciated the program. The first second and third positions were bagged by Ms Jyoti of BSc Part 2, Mr Aniket Sharma of BSc Semester I and Mr Riyaz Shan of BSc Semester III A consolation prize was bagged by Mr. Rohit Kumar of BSc Part 3. The program was anchored by Ms Dipti Kesar of BSc Semester III. In the last a candle lightening program was performed on the occasion.

Govt. Zorawar Singh Degree College, Reasi has organised a debate in collaboration with NHPC Ltd. Salal Power Station Jyotipuram, Reasi on the occasion of observance of Vigilance Awareness Week. The topic of the debate was “How youth can participate in the fight against corruption.” The Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr. Hemla Aggarwal, Principal GGZSDC Reasi. Among the jury members were Mr. Varnder Kumar, Manager Civil NHPC, Mr. Kuldeep Sharma, Hindi Officer, NHPC, and Dr. Prem Singh, HOD Political Science. The programme was started with the lighting of the lamp followed by Saraswati Vandana. Guests were formally welcomed by Prof. Tania Akhtar, HOD English. 15 students participated in the debate and expressed their views on the said topic.

The Chief Guest in her address said, it seems very difficult to control corruption but it is not impossible. It is not only the responsibility of the government but ours too. We can eliminate corruption if there will be joint effort. We must have some high principles to follow so that we may be models for the coming generation. Let us take a view to create an atmosphere free from corruption. That will be our highest achievement as human beings.

The first, second and third position was bagged by Ms. Aditi, BSc. III Sem, Ms.Indrakshi Sharma of III Sem and Ms. Vidutma of BSc. Part-III respectively. The programme ended with the vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Sakshi Sharma of English Department.

General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College Reasi observed red cross day today on 08-05-2015. Principal of the college Prof.(Dr.) Kaushal Smotra spoke about the red cross movement and its founder Jean Henry Dunant. She talked about the notable community services undertaken by the branches of red cross and about its efforts to promote friendship ,co-operation and lasting peace amongest people.students and faculty members were also present . Students also participated in the function conducted by the Distt. Red Cross Society, Reasi. Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Department of Physics accomplied the students.
