GDC Reasi Celebrated World Environment Day with Plantation, Cleanliness Drive & Awareness Rally.

REASI// June 5: The NSS, NCC, and the Department of Environmental Sciences of the Government General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College, Reasi, celebrated World Environment Day’ 2024 highlighting this year’s theme of “Land Restoration, Stopping Desertification and Building Drought Resilience". The program was organised under the patronage of Worthy Principal Dr Kulvinder Kour with a series of activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness and conservation. The day began with a plantation and cleanliness drive in the college campus. The students, under the guidance of their professors and officials, took part in the drive, demonstrating their commitment to environmental preservation. In a symbolic gesture, the Principal planted a Pipal tree, marking the start of the plantation drive.The students followed suit, planting a variety of trees such as Gulmor, Jamun, Arjun, Mango, and Rain Tree. The initiative aimed at increasing the green cover of the campus and promoting biodiversity. Following the on-campus activities, the NSS volunteers and NCC cadets visited Chinkah, where they participated in an awareness rally organised by the District Administration of Reasi, where they raised slogans related to conservation of the environment.The rally served as a platform for the students to engage with the local community and spread the message of environmental conservation. About 70 students participated in the programme. The event was organised and coordinated by Prof. Apfan Ali, NSS PO, Mr Rakesh Kumar ANO NCC, Prof Rahil Dutta, HoD EVS. Others faculty members present on the occasion were Prof Romesh Atri, Prof Ravi Kant, Prof Hitesh Basotra, Prof Parveen Akhter, Prof Kewal Krishan,Prof. Mumta Kundal, Prof Surita Kumari, Prof Palak Malhotra, Prof Pooja and other non teaching officials including Sunil Kumar, Ranjit Singh, and Sham Singh, Mrs Rano, Mrs Pushpa, Mr Liaqat Hussain. The event served as a reminder of our collective responsibility towards the environment and the role each one of us can play in its preservation. The college administration expressed its gratitude to all the participants and hoped that such initiatives would inspire others to take action for the environment.

GDC Reasi Organized One Day Workshop on “Effective Communication and Leadership”

REASI, May 11: One-Day Training Workshop on Effective Communication and Leadership organized by General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College Reasi Jammu in collaboration with ELFA international was a dynamic and engaging event. With the Chief Guest, the Principal of GDC Reasi, and the resource person Mehran Khan, Chairman and founder of ELFA in attendance, the workshop promised a wealth of knowledge and expertise. The program commenced with a warm welcome address by NSS Program Officer Prof Apfan Ali, setting a positive tone for the day. The esteemed Chief Guest and the Worthy Principal Dr Kulvinder Kour delivered inspiring speeches, emphasizing the importance of effective communication and leadership skills in today's world. The General Secretary of the college Prof Kewal Krishan also added valuable insights and perspectives, enriching the discussions on the theme. Mehran Khan, the distinguished resource person, conducted, engaging and informative demonstrations that captivated the audience. His demonstration was a highlight of the workshop, showcasing practical strategies and techniques for enhancing communication and leadership capabilities. His expertise in effective communication and leadership shone through, providing valuable insights and practical tips to the 50 participating students. The active participation of 50 students from NSS, NCC and NCORD added vibrancy to the event, and engaging games were played to reinforce the concepts learned during the workshop. The interactive sessions encouraged team-work and communication among the attendees, making the learning experience both enjoyable and educational. Following staff members were participated on the occasion Prof Baldev Nagraj, Prof Zaheer Abbas, Physical Director Rakesh Kumar, Dr Abdul Majeed, Prof Megha, Prof Palak, Prof Rahil Dutt, and Team members of ELFA Zooin wani, Fatima Khan, Mr varun khajuria. As the event drew to a close, Kajal presented a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants, organizers, and speakers for their contributions to the success of the workshop. The collaborative efforts of GDC Reasi and ELFA in organizing this workshop had a significant impact on the students, equipping them with valuable skills and insights for their personal and professional growth.


GDC Reasi Organized an Awareness Program on "Overview of NCS with Latest Updates"

REASI, May 16: The Career Counseling Cell, NCC and NSS Unit of the Government General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College Reasi, in collaboration with the District Employment & Counseling Centre Reasi, recently organized an awareness program titled "Overview of NCS with Latest Updates." The event aimed to provide valuable insights into the National Career Service (NCS) and its recent developments. The program commenced with Sonia Kumari, a fourth semester student, inaugurating the session. Principal Dr. Kulvinder Kour extended her congratulations to the organizers and employment officials for their efforts in promoting career awareness. Key highlights of the program included, Career Counseling Discussion: Priyanka Singh, a Young Professional from the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Reasi, led a detailed discussion career on counselling. Attendees gained insights into various career paths and opportunities. She also told the students to visit our websites for more information, www.jakemp.nic / www.ncs.gov.in. Vikram Rana, an official from the employment office, shared his perspectives on the NCS and its role in empowering job seekers. Prof. Romesh Atri, an experienced educator, also contributed valuable insights. Faculty members actively participated in the program. Over 70 students attended the program, demonstrating their interest in understanding career related opportunities and updates. Neha Devi, a fourth-semester student, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and organizers.

Awareness Programme on Electoral Process organized at GDC, Reasi

An Awareness Programme on Electoral Process was organized at Govt. Degree College, Reasi as a part of Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls with reference to 01.04.2023 as the qualifying date in which Deputy Commissioner, Reasi Ms. Babila Rakwal, JKAS was the Chief Guest. While speaking on the occasion DC Reasi appealed the students to register themselves for Photo Electoral Card and made them aware about Garuda App launched by Election Commission of India for registration of Voters. A camp was also organized on the occasion for registration of new voters in which Booth Level Officers from different polling stations of the district named Pardeep Kumar – 163 Nai Basti, Rakesh Kumar Kesar – 166 Gadal, Raman Kumar – 168 Roop Nagar & Shiv Nagar, Pankaj Sharma – 164 Christian Mohallah, Ganesh Dass – 129 Puria (Pouni) have collected the formalities from students to get them registered as voters who have complete the eligibility age. Others present on the occasion includes Principal GDC, Reasi Dr. Kulvinder Kour, Dy. District Election Officer, Reasi Mr. Rakesh Kumar, ACR Reasi Mr. Anshu Mali, Tehsildar Reasi Mr. Suresh Singh, CPDO Pouni Ms. Sushma Kholi and all the staff members of the college. The whole Programme was organized in collaboration with Electoral Literacy Club and NSS Unit of the college. The Programme was coordinated by District Coordinator SVEEP Mr. Narinder Kishore and Prof. Ajay Kumar, Nodal Officer Electoral Literacy Club & NSS Programme Officer of the college. Celebrating India’s G20 presidency, A “Run for Unity” was organised by District Administration Reasi on 28th March 2023 at District Head quarters from Gran Morh to General Zorawar Singh Stadium Reasi. Following NCC cadets of Govt. General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College actively participated in this run, Arun Sharma, Ms. Kajal Devi, Mohinder Singh, Suresh Singh, Akshay Kumar, Vinayak Sharma. Ms. Kajal Devi, NCC Cadet and student of Semester 6th of this college secured 1st position in this event. The college administration lauded the efforts of all the students who participated in the event and congratulated Kajal Devi for her achievement. Lt. Sunil Mangotra, Prof Upasna, ANO NCC of the college and Mr. Shashi Sharma , PTI of the College coordinated with the students and motivated them to ensure their participation in the event.

An awareness Program on Solid Waste Management was organized by District Legal Services Authority Reasi.

On 23rd of March 2022, An awareness Program on Solid Waste Management was organized by District Legal Services Authority Reasi in collaboration with Municipality Committee Reasi and Govt. Degree College Reasi. The main objective of the Program was to a,,·are the students about the segregation and management of sol id wastes produced by households. Mr. Vinod Kumar Sharma, IEC Field Executive, the key speaker of the day highlighted the key aspects of solid waste management. He also highlighted the important ways in v,hich student can play vital role in propagating the skills and information required among masses for the management of waste. In addition to it, Dr. Rajinder Kumar, Assistant Professor from GDC Reasi also made some deliberations on the various ill effects, health issues and various other diseases emerging due to constant production of non-segregated waste materials. An awareness program regarding Menace of Drug abuse.

An awareness program regarding Menace of Drug abuse among the youth was organised today at Govt. General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College on 09-02-2023 under the direction of Worthy Principal, Dr. Kulvinder Kour, by the College level NCORD Committee in collaboration with the NCC Unit of the college and Department of sports. The program was organised in sync with the agenda of the District level NCORD committee of District Reasi aimed at creating awareness among the students of the college regarding prevalence of Drug abuse , its harmful effects on the individual and the society. Students prepared posters regarding the topic.

Digital Week Celebration Concludes at GGZSM DEGREE COLLEGE REASI

A series of Yoga activities celebrated by GGZSMDC as a part of Count-down to International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2022 Programme:

NSS & NCC unit of Govt. General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College Reasi organized a series of activities as part of the count-down to the International Day of Yoga from 14th of May to 21st of June. This day is celebrated every year on 21of June to raise global awareness, to create positive attitude of masses towards the ancient Indian culture of Yoga. It is not just celebrated in India but all over the world. Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi first proposed the idea of International Yoga Day during his speech at UN general assembly, on 27th of sept., 2014. Since then every year on 21st of June International day of yoga is observed around the globe. This year is the 8th addition of International Day of Yoga which is being celebrated with the theme “Yoga For Humanity”.To make every individual aware of importance of yoga in educational institutions a range of activities were organized by NSS and NCC Units to sensitize the young minds. The opening session to the event was marked on 14th of May under the patronship of Dr. Chander Shekhar, principal of the college along with the dignitaries in the multi –purpose hall of the college. The beginning of the event was marked by the veneration of goddess Saraswati where the lamp was enlightened along with the offering of flowers. NSS volunteers along with NCC cadets performed “common yoga protocol practice” i,e various yoga asanas were performed: a few to name ‘Chakra Asana’, ’ Surya Namaskar ‘ and Pranayama. After performing yoga, worthy Principal sir appraised the volunteers regarding the importance of yoga in our day to day life.

Day 2 of the event was preceded by a poster – making competition and then around 50 students and volunteers has participated in an awareness rally for the upcoming international Day of Yoga on 21st June 2022. Students marched from college premises to District Hospital Reasi by raising slogans.
On 8th of June a yoga demonstration session was organized with Mr. Nikhil Banathia, resource person for the event to demonstrate yoga postures for the students. While performing asanas, the yoga instructor made aware the volunteers about the benefits of the same. Later the resource person inspired the volunteers through his informative lecture on the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of yoga in the modern world.
An essay writing competition was organized on 20th of June on Yoga in which around 20 volunteers actively took part. Certificate of participation was also given to the students. On 21st of June, a total of 70 NSS and NCC volunteers participated in the celebration of International Yoga Day as proposed by Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India under Azadi Ka Amrut Mahatosav. The event began from GHSS Reasi, where pledge was preceded by the NCC cadet of 2 JK Bn Girls from GDC REASI. As per the schedule, all the volunteers along with principal and staff proceeded to General Zorawar Singh Stadium to join other district administrators for IDY celebration. Smt. Babila Rakwal and District Judge graced the occasion with their presence. The celebration ended at Sulla Park where students participated in Yoga practice. Principal of the college motivated students and asked them to adopt Yoga in their daily lives as it will help them combat diseases to maintain a healthy lifestyle. He also appreciated the students and organizers of the event Prof. Palvinder Kumari (NSS PO), Prof. Norin Akhtar (NCC Officer), Prof. Sunil Mangotra and Mr. Shashi Sharma for organizing the programme with dedication.
Later in the noon, Principal of the college did a yoga session with the college staff in the college premises. Principal thanked everyone for their support and presence


GGZSM organized a Bicycle Rally to commemorate the World Bicycle Day

In commemoration of World Bicycle Day 2022, the NSS Unit of Government General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College, Reasi in collaboration with IQAC Cell organized a Bicycle Rally under Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav. The principal, Dr. Chander Shekhar was the chief patron of the event. The objective of the program is to develop a culture of cycling for basic transportation, commutation, and strengthening physical and mental health. Dr. Chander Shekhar, Principal of the College, flagged off a mega cycling rally at the college campus, Reasi. Addressing the students, he said that the world Bicycle Day celebrations would be an inspiration to many people in changing their lifestyles, and switching to cycling will help them stay fit and reduce pollution in the city. The rally started from the College premises to District Hospital, Reasi, and then came back from there to the college. NSS volunteers took part in the rally with their bicycles and presented various messages through slogans, placards, and posters. Prof. Palvinder Kumari, NSS Nodal Officer also motivated the students to ride bicycles every day in order to save the environment and keep it clean and green. Prof. Kewal Krishan, convenor of IQAC cell then shared the benefits of riding a bicycle. Around 70 volunteers participated in the rally with great enthusiasm. The Program was adroitly conducted by Prof. Palvinder Kumari, NSS Programme Officer, Prof. Kewal Krishan, Staff Secretary and Convenor of IQAC, along with Prof. Sunil Magotra, and Prof. Norin Akhtar for successfully organizing the event.








गवर्नमेंट जनरल जोरावर सिंह मेमोरियल डिग्री कॉलेज रियासी में विश्व तंबाकू निषेद दिवस(2022)को ध्यान में रखते हुए प्रिंसिपल डॉक्टर चंद्रशेखर जी की अगुवाई में एक दिवसीय जागरूकता अभियान दिनांक 31मई2022 को एन0सी0सी इकाई एवं गणित विभाग द्वारा चलाया गया और जिसकी थीम “तंबाकू हमारे ग्रह के लिए जहर है पर आधारित थी। इस अवसर पर कॉलेज के स्टूडेंट्स ने तंबाकू निषेद को लेकर पोस्टर और स्लोगन बनाकर इस एक दिवसीय जगरुगता अभियान में भाग लिया l प्रिंसिपल डॉ चन्दर शेखर जी ने स्टूडेंट्स को अवगत करवाते हुए कहा कि हमारे शरीर पर सिगरेट ,तंबाकू, और अन्य नशे का सेवन बहुत ही बुरा प्रभाव डालता हैं और इसके लगातार सेवन करने से बहुत से लोग हर वर्ष मृत्यु को प्राप्त हो जाते हैं।जिसके चलते किसी भी देश का सर्वगीण विकास पूरी तरह से नहीं हो पता है। इसीलिए सब को ये प्रण करना है कि कोई भी किसी भी प्रकार का नशीले प्रदार्थों का सेवन से हम परहेज़ करेंगे और अपने देश को विकास की ओर ले जायेंगे।
