An awareness program regarding Menace of Drug abuse among the youth was organised today at Govt. General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College on 09-02-2023 under the direction of Worthy Principal, Dr. Kulvinder Kour, by the College level NCORD Committee in collaboration with the NCC Unit of the college and Department of sports. The program was organised in sync with the agenda of the District level NCORD committee of District Reasi aimed at creating awareness among the students of the college regarding prevalence of Drug abuse , its harmful effects on the individual and the society. Students prepared posters regarding the topic.
NSS & NCC unit of Govt. General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College Reasi organized a series of activities as part of the count-down to the International Day of Yoga from 14th of May to 21st of June. This day is celebrated every year on 21of June to raise global awareness, to create positive attitude of masses towards the ancient Indian culture of Yoga. It is not just celebrated in India but all over the world. Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi first proposed the idea of International Yoga Day during his speech at UN general assembly, on 27th of sept., 2014. Since then every year on 21st of June International day of yoga is observed around the globe. This year is the 8th addition of International Day of Yoga which is being celebrated with the theme “Yoga For Humanity”.To make every individual aware of importance of yoga in educational institutions a range of activities were organized by NSS and NCC Units to sensitize the young minds. The opening session to the event was marked on 14th of May under the patronship of Dr. Chander Shekhar, principal of the college along with the dignitaries in the multi –purpose hall of the college. The beginning of the event was marked by the veneration of goddess Saraswati where the lamp was enlightened along with the offering of flowers. NSS volunteers along with NCC cadets performed “common yoga protocol practice” i,e various yoga asanas were performed: a few to name ‘Chakra Asana’, ’ Surya Namaskar ‘ and Pranayama. After performing yoga, worthy Principal sir appraised the volunteers regarding the importance of yoga in our day to day life.
In commemoration of World Bicycle Day 2022, the NSS Unit of Government General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College, Reasi in collaboration with IQAC Cell organized a Bicycle Rally under Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav. The principal, Dr. Chander Shekhar was the chief patron of the event. The objective of the program is to develop a culture of cycling for basic transportation, commutation, and strengthening physical and mental health. Dr. Chander Shekhar, Principal of the College, flagged off a mega cycling rally at the college campus, Reasi. Addressing the students, he said that the world Bicycle Day celebrations would be an inspiration to many people in changing their lifestyles, and switching to cycling will help them stay fit and reduce pollution in the city. The rally started from the College premises to District Hospital, Reasi, and then came back from there to the college. NSS volunteers took part in the rally with their bicycles and presented various messages through slogans, placards, and posters. Prof. Palvinder Kumari, NSS Nodal Officer also motivated the students to ride bicycles every day in order to save the environment and keep it clean and green. Prof. Kewal Krishan, convenor of IQAC cell then shared the benefits of riding a bicycle. Around 70 volunteers participated in the rally with great enthusiasm. The Program was adroitly conducted by Prof. Palvinder Kumari, NSS Programme Officer, Prof. Kewal Krishan, Staff Secretary and Convenor of IQAC, along with Prof. Sunil Magotra, and Prof. Norin Akhtar for successfully organizing the event.
This is in continuation to UGC letter FNo 14-1/2019(CPP-II) dated 18/01/ 2022 regarding the 5th edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha (PPC2022), the unique interactive program of Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi with students, teachers and parents to be held through virtual mode in January 2022.
